The Scott Joplin Regional Music Celebration will take place throughout the weekend. On Friday, March 30, a Meet & Greet will be held from 6-9 p.m. at Silvermoon on Broad in downtown Texarkana. Music will feature Three of a Kind and Ampro player piano, and drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served. On March 31, Dr. John Tennison will give a presentation at 2 p.m. at the Museum of Regional History on “Early Music of the Texarkana Region: Joplin & Others Before Him.” The main event will feature Grammy- nominated Pianist Richard Dowling with the Texarkana Ragtime Orchestra, Texarkana Jazz Orchestra, Four States Area Student Jazz Competition Winner, and the Scott Joplin Student Piano Competition Winner.
