A true southern lady, Carole Boswell is gracious and kind, always seeking to include others in activities around town.  She and her husband, Jim, have been married for 57 years and have two children, Amy and Brad, and four grandchildren, Ellie, Audrey, Katie, and Nick.

Carole Boswell’s long history of volunteerism dates back to her elementary school days during the 1940s, and volunteering has become a mainstay in her life ever since.  Throughout her primary and secondary education, she belonged to numerous clubs and organizations.  While in college at The University of Texas at Austin, Carole was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and was engaged in numerous volunteer and charitable activities.  She continues to be an active member of the alum association, and she also serves as an associate member of Daughters of the Republic of Texas.

When Carole transplanted to Texarkana from Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, to be near to her daughter and her family, she sought out volunteer opportunities.  She proudly earned the Salvation Army’s Volunteer of the Year Award in 2014 and has helped out numerous nonprofit organizations, including Hospice of Texarkana, Texas Association of Garden Clubs, Rose Garden Club, Daughters of the  American Revolution, Lone Star Chapter, and United Methodist Women.

Jim and Carole have been members of Hardy United Methodist Church for the past eight years where she has enjoyed being in the choir.  Her proudest professional accomplishment was helping her husband run Boswell Security Inc. Spending time with family and friends is important to the Boswells.  They truly love living in Texarkana and believe that if everyone lived by the Ten Commandments and The Golden Rule, then the world would be a beautiful and wonderful place.

Carole concludes, “If I could share one piece of advice with young women today, I would tell them to always enter a room with a smile on their face.”  Great advice from a lady who believes in service above self and enjoys helping others.

“If I can’t have a good time, I’m not going.”

- Jim Boswell (Carole’s husband)

The Way Yulin Brewer Sees Her

The first time I met Carole Boswell, I knew we would become great friends. She was vivacious, joyful, and interesting. More importantly, she was extremely interested in learning all about me and the others at our first meeting. The next thing I noticed about Carole is that she thrives when she is helping others. She brings food when you are ill and will help you with anything. She is always ready to listen when you need to talk. When she is not busy caring for her many friends, she volunteers for organizations that feed the hungry, the Salvation Army, and her Garden Club.  She is very active in her church and her neighborhood organization. Also, she always makes time for her granddaughters. Carole loves entertaining and always adds an original creative touch that surprises everyone. She instinctively knows how to make you feel special and welcome. She has an infectious laughter and is always optimistic and makes everyone’s time with her a little better. The most striking thing about Carole is her immense empathy. It is absolutely clear that she knows how you feel. In fact, you are sure she feels whatever you are feeling. She has such a big heart that is filled with love and understanding for everyone. I am honored to call Carole my friend and to nominate her for Tribute to Women 2020.
