Rebekah Drennon’s family instilled in her the value of community service and the importance of nonprofit sectors, which are driving forces that guide her career path. “My parents have always taught me that even if you end up with your dream job, and no matter the positions you hold in the community, it means nothing without your faith in God,” she admits.

Rebekah will graduate with a master’s degree in Communication from TAMUT this December, so that serves as her greatest personal achievement. Professionally, serving an internship with the Cowboys is her greatest accomplishment. She explains, “What started off as a summer internship turned into two years of working game days with the team. I don’t know what this season holds, but the opportunity opened so many doors and friendships, and helped me tap into what I’m truly passionate about.”

Community service is a very important part of Rebekah’s life.  She serves as a board member for the Greater Texarkana Young Professionals, and serves as a member of the Kiwanis Club, First Baptist Church Texarkana, Leadership Texarkana Class of 2020, and the TAMUT Alumni Association.

Aside from her current role as Development Director for Opportunities, Rebekah also works for the Dallas Cowboys on game days as part of the Event Presentation Staff. “In 10 years, in some form or fashion, I hope my career combines my love of sports with my passion for community. It would be amazing to work for a professional team as a community relations officer,” she explains.  “Managing a team’s outreach in their local community where there is a need for positive impact would be such a cool job because not only are the players/the team put in a good light, but there is potential to make such an incredible impact that stems outside of just wins or losses.”

Best piece of advice:

“Everyone starts somewhere. When someone asks you to sweep the floor, make sure it’s spotless, then go back and do it again. Hard work is what gets you noticed.” – Joe Drennon, Rebekah’s father

Name something about you that very few people know:

“I had exertional compartment syndrome surgery on both of my legs junior year of high school and now have three scars on each one.”
