Redwater High TAFE Students Take Top Award at State Contest

Two Redwater High School (RHS) students recently were awarded the Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) Gold Award during the TAFE Teach Tomorrow Summit in Round Rock, TX. 

Following their previous Gold Award during the Area TAFE competition, Senior Kami Wells and Sophomore Makenzee Minter earned TAFE’s highest state rating for their “Spooktacular Teachers” project entered as part of the Project Visualize Contest. This competition allowed participating students to choose one project for each of the six TRAFLES area. TRAFLES is the framework which TAFE uses to ensure every Chapter has a well-rounded, successful program for future educators and is an acronym for: 

Teaching/Training: Tutor and become a positive influence to younger children; 
Recreation: Have fun with others who have similar career goals and make lifelong friends; 
Appreciation: Join in teacher appreciation activities to make a difference; 
Fundraising: Work together with your peers to raise funds to support the projects in which the local organization participates; 
Leadership: Develop leadership characteristics; 
Educational Awareness: Learn about educational issues and/or methodologies; 
Service: Connect with the community by addressing the needs of others. 

Gold Award winning students focused on teacher appreciation activities to make a difference by holding a “Spooktacular Teacher Luncheon” for RHS staff. From invitation design, to a festive menu which fit the theme and preparation of all menu items themselves, Wells and Minter accomplished their effort in showing teachers how much they are appreciated for their hard work each and every day.
