First Responder’s Day was held May 23 as part of the third annual EMS Appreciation Week festivities. Free breakfast, lunch and dinner was served for all first responders including EMS, all law enforcement, and firefighters. Breakfast was served at First Baptist Church Texarkana, and lunch and dinner was provided at all Texarkana Big Jake’s Bar-B-Que locations. Live radio remotes were held, and Mayors Bob Bruggeman and Ruth Penney Bell arrived via LifeNet helicopter and proclaimed the day as EMS Appreciation Day in Texarkana. Grand presenting sponsor was Texarkana Emergency Center. Other participating sponsors were Fox Sports 1400 AM Texarkana, Big Jake’s Bar-B-Que, First Baptist Church Texarkana, Farmers Bank & Trust, and LifeNet.
