Texarkana Emergency Center “Stop The Bleed”

Recently, Texarkana Emergency Center led an organized “Stop the Bleed” community effort by teaching (free of cost) local educators from both Arkansas and Texas side school districts and donating “Stop the Bleed” kits to local Arkansas State Troopers and Texas Department of Public Safety Officers.

The “Stop the Bleed” program teaches non-medical providers how to prevent life threatening bleeding for such incidents as active shooters, motor vehicle accidents, and other injuries. e program instructs use of wound care, direct pressure, and tourniquet usage to control a potentially deadly hemorrhage.

Among the local educators who were offered the training, Texarkana Emergency Center also opened up the training to school resource officers, administrators, local law enforcement, firefighters, and other first responder personnel. Approximately 200 personnel were trained during the event.

The program was supported and attended by Texarkana Arkansas Mayor Ruth Penney Bell and Texarkana Texas Mayor Bob Bruggman as well as Arkansas State Rep. Carol Dalby and Texas State Rep. Gary VanDeaver.
