As a lender at State Bank, Cody Deal helps people fulfill their dreams by providing financial services that allow them to do so.  “I love my job.  I love the people I work with,” Cody explains.

Previously, Cody coached baseball and football for Pleasant Grove High School.  As a coach at PG, his greatest professional accomplishment was winning two baseball state championships with his team.  He enjoys keeping up with his former players and even officiated the wedding of one of them last year.

Although he enjoyed the staff and players at PG, he elected to quit coaching to spend more time with his wife, Ali, and children, John Morris (9), Rosemary (7), and James (5).  “Looking back, it was God’s hand on my life because Rosemary was born with a Cleft Palate birth defect and has required 11 surgeries in her little 7-year life,” he explains.  “I also help John Morris manage his Type 1 diabetes. Seeing my kids thrive despite their setbacks ... I consider that an accomplishment as a dad. They inspire me.”

Cody currently serves as a board member of Eagle Impact, and he and Ali teach a young couples’ Sunday school class, “Anchored,” at First Baptist Church Texarkana.  He enjoys coaching youth sports teams and was “semi-relieved” when COVID-19 hit because he was coaching all three of his kids’ teams  at once.  “We, also by default, always end up helping out with newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetic families and families of newborns dealing with cleft palate diagnoses across Texarkana,” he explains.  “Being able to say, ‘We know how you feel’ is a powerful thing.  We have witnessed this.”

Ready for what the next 10 years bring, Cody looks forward to continuing to help State Bank be the best bank in Northeast Texas, and he and Ali will continue raising Godly children.  He concludes, “Life has had a lot of twists and turns for our family the past 10 years, and even in the scary times, I wouldn’t change it.”

Best piece of advice:

“Every morning you get to make the choice: either you are going to be happy or not.” —Ali Deal, Cody’s beautiful and wise wife

Name something about you that very few people know:

“I’m a crier when I see almost anything touching. In our house, I’m the one who loves babies. All of our kids called ME ‘Mama’ before my wife.”
