Texas A&M University-Texarkana’s Office of Student Life and the Student Athletes Advisory Council are hosting a free city-wide Trunk or Treat event on Monday, October 31st from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Cort Tittle, Redwater High School senior, has been selected as one of an estimated 6,000 high-achieving high school senior finalists for consideration to receive a full four-year scholarship to one of the nation’s top colleges.

The Union Pacific Community Ties Giving Program awarded the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund, or ASPSF, a $7,000 Grant to create the 2023 Union Pacific Scholarship Project.

Texarkana, Arkansas City Manager E. Jay Ellington has announced the appointment of Michael Kramm Texarkana's next Police Chief. Kramm's predecessor is Kristi Bennett who resigned to accept the Police Chief position in Hot Springs Village. Chief Kramm's first day on the job will be October 24.

The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana will host the Southwest Arkansas Data Science and Computing Ecosystem (ArDSCE) Meeting at Hempstead Hall on October 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to allow business, and industry stakeholders across the state engage with ArDSCE to ensure that their perspective is included to guide workforce development efforts for information technology in Arkansas. Additionally, attendees will gain valuable insight into the data science and computing talent pipeline.

At Monday’s board meeting, Texarkana College Trustees learned that area high school students are benefitting now, more than ever, from TC’s dual credit courses offered in workforce and technical training programs. For Fall 2022, enrollment in these courses is up by 66.5% in head count, and 74% in contact hours from 2021.

The Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) announced the 59 winners of the 2022 District of Distinction Award. Among the list of honorees is Texarkana ISD. The districts received the honor for providing a well-rounded education that advocates and integrates visual arts curriculum to inspire creativity and build social emotional learning that connect learners to their community and beyond.

Nine Redwater High School band students have been selected to the Texas Music Educators Association All-Region Jazz Band during auditions held on September 17.

The Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) has named Redwater ISD one of 59 district state winners of the 2022 District of Distinction Award and one of 13 school districts to receive the award for three consecutive years.
